Are you Chair of a smaller museum? Are you looking to be more effective in your role?

We know that the role of Chair although rewarding can be lonely. In a smaller organisation, there is often little resource to support the Chair and limited time to reflect on the nature of the role.

Do your trustees work well together? Are you able to deal with conflict effectively?

As Chair, your role includes enabling your board to work well together and supporting your trustees to resolve any conflict.  This might mean having difficult conversations with one or more of your trustees to confront problematic behaviours.
This event, Developing and Effective Board Team is being run jointly with the Association of Chairs.

Join us at the Museum of East Anglian Life for the second of our Association of Chairs Beacon Programme sessions.   This workshop will provide you with practical guidance and tools to help you be more effective in your role. The workshop has been developed with the complexities of chairing a smaller organisation (with an annual income of under £1 million) in mind; such as operating with limited resources and individuals often having both operational and governance roles. You will have the opportunity to share learning with Chairs of other smaller organisations.

‘Really helpful overall, good to give myself the time to think about the issue of being Chair whilst away from the charity. The workshop has given me a number of actions to take forward to develop myself as Chair. ’

Rachel Lovering, Chair, Adhisthana
