Museum Development South East (MDSE) is looking for members for its new Oversight Board. The board will advise, guide and act as critical friend to the MDSE team delivering a programme of support on the ground to museums and galleries across the South East.
MDSE is a new partnership between Norfolk County Council’s Museums Service (NMS) and Brighton & Hove Museums (B&HM) which will oversee the delivery of museum development services across the newly defined South East Area. The programme will come into effect on 1 April 2024 and will run initially for three years.
As part of the new arrangements, we are creating the Oversight Board to offer guidance and to monitor performance of the new service. The board will be made up of fifteen individuals, thirteen of whom will be from the museums sector and those with an interest in the role of museums and heritage. Two members will be senior officers of NMS and B&HM.
What we are looking for:
We want the new board to be diverse in its membership and be representative of the geographic spread of the new service. We are seeking candidates with experience in the range and types of museums located in the area, but also those that represent the wider sector and its audiences, including education, organisational support services, freelancers, specialist networks and artistic or community practitioners. Most of all we are looking for people that believe in the plentiful role that museums can play within their community in service to civic society.
