Event Details

Do you know what you would do in the event of a theft from your museum? Join us for this unique annual event that brings together museum staff, volunteers and trustees with police representatives from across the region.  This year, speakers will look at the steps you can take to prevent theft from museums, historic houses and collections, as well as what to expect when your site becomes a crime scene.  We will explore both high-tech solutions, and low-tech problem solving, making it an essential event for any museum to be involved in, whatever the size.  With lots of practical tips and advice, this seminar will give delegates the opportunity to get expert advice on how to approach improving security whilst working alongside their local police force.

Speakers include:

  • Ruth Burwood (SHARE Museums East) – Updated Accreditation requirements for museums

  • Dick Wolsey (Norfolk Constabulary) – Prevention. A reality check list

  • Phil Wheeler (Head of Security, Fitzwilliam Museum) A Case study – the experience of the victim

  • Senior CSI Mr David WRIGHTING (Suffolk Constabulary) – Crime Scene reality and what we can do to help

  • Detective Ray SWAN (Met Police Art & Antiques Unit SC07) – Investigation National & International crime
