Event Details

All museum trustees in the region are warmly invited to this first regional Trustee Connect event.

Hosted by Peterborough Museum, the event will give you an opportunity to find out more about the support services that are available to your museum and to you and your fellow trustees.

Camilla Nichol, Chair of Trustees at the Cromwell Museum will be co-hosting the event with the SHARE team and leading round-table discussions on topics of your choice. As well as Top 10 Challenges Faced by Trustees, we will also feature Accreditation, the Association of Chairs, The Association of Independent museums, support case studies and how SHARE can help review your Board.

This is your chance to discuss, meet Trustees from outside your County, and get some of your questions answered by the SHARE team, your County Museum Development Officers and other support bodies who will be there.

You will also be able to meet Margaret Harrison of AIM and Liam Wiseman (Museums Relationship Manager, Arts Council England).

We will end the day with drinks and nibbles and an opportunity to explore Hoards: a Hidden History of Ancient Britain. This touring partnership exhibition between the British Museum and Salisbury Museum is in its final weeks of its UK tour. It highlights archaeological finds from prehistory through to medieval and later dates. Peterborough is the final venue to showcase this amazing collection of finds, so a great opportunity to see them whilst they are still available to enjoy!

The exhibition looks at the varied and changing explanations for the burial and non-recovery of hoards. Whether accidentally lost or stolen, discarded as worthless, saved for recycling, hidden for safekeeping, or offered as gifts for the gods, their stories continue to fascinate. It will showcase recent discoveries of hoards and brings together objects from the British Museum and Salisbury Museum, including the spectacular Ipswich Iron Age gold torcs and other Bronze Age finds from places such as Must Farm and Ely.

Please contact Sally Ackroyd if you have any specific ideas or questions you would like us to cover during the day.

If you have an further questions, you may find them answered on our FAQs page.
